Dappled leaves was inspired by oak leaves in autumn and the little wasp galls (larvae) that like to make the leaves their home. The leaf grows to enclose the larvae and protect it. Whilst unsightly in real life, this important biodiverse relationship between tree and wasp translated into a colourful pattern.
Originally designed by hand, then carved into a lino block to create the print.
The fabric captures the handprinted nature of the original block print.
